New Pink Lighting

Hi all, my old Aqua One light fixture has died, it had two 39w T5s one white and one pink, and i loved the colour it gave the tank and fish, but i have replaced it with a more economical Led strip in pink and white, but it really doesn't give out that warm pink light that makes the fish look good, also now my two flap lids wont fit properly so i will have to think about getting perspex cover cut to size, i just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the suggestion that i could put a strip of pink tranparent sticky back stuff on to give it a warmer glow?
