Fluval U2 filter ... Decision about additional media

I have a single fluval U2 filter running in my fully cycled fluval Roma 90 tank. Inspecting the filter this week the  media only takes up half of the capacity of the central filter unit. From my spare filter I have more unused media and am very tempted to increase filtration capacity by doubling it... (Pretty sure will all fit in there!)Are there any contraindications anyone can think of me doing this?

I plan on washing it in tank water (to be discarded) from next water change and not disturbing media there and just filling the top half of the mesh box with it..

Advice welcome ;D

It sounds like a good idea.
I've just looked at the manual (Hagen's website) - that centre box is designed for biomax, which in the diagram looks like ceramic 'noodles'. The box as shown in the manual looks very like the one in the Hagen Trio filter I had several years ago - the bag of noodles that came with that filter completely filled the box so you shouldn't have any problems if you fill yours to capacity. And you could put other types of media in there is you wanted - sponges, other makes of ceramic media. Just so long as you don't cram so much in that the water flow is slowed down too much.

I think when media was new back in July it filled it... As it has been used managed to condense itself...

Thanks for the advice will add it soon  ;)
