Post by: foxhound on June 27, 2014, 06:20:23 PM
Hi guys and gals,
I'm starting to make my wish list for my new tank "to be" and would like some input from those with good and bad experience of products. I have made an initial list but as always someone somewhere will know of something better or avoid a product at all costs.

The tank will be a 60cm cube in 8mm acrylic and hold 200litres
kit I hav highlighted so far is:

I don't think i'm missing anything but please let me know your thoughts and ideas

The only thing I'd comment on is that you don't actually need UV and some people are very set against them. The main reason is that if run full time, they remove every bug in the water and the fish lose all resistance to them. The danger occurs if you add new fish at a time when unknown to you the UV bulb has worn out because you forgot to replace it on time, or if the UV breaks down without you being aware of the fact.

OK that's interesting about the UV I have heard several people say that the UV wont harm the tank as long as it is in line with the water return most thing I want it for is keeping the water clear from algae and I have never been a fan of adding chemicals to remove it.
never had an issue in the past on my marine tank but then I did regular maintenance and changed the bulb well in time with the recommendation.
