Hi all,
Ive been thinking of getting a hydor in line heater and I was wondering if anyone uses a temperature monitor capable of cutting of the power to a heater if the temp gets too high. If so any recommendations?
Also anyone that uses or has used a hydor in line heater any advice and opinions would be welcome.

Hi Russ
I can highly recommend the hydor inline heater, run mine for twelve month now and had no problems.
You wouldn't need to go to the expense of a monitor, the hydor is thermostatic controlled so they shut off when optimum temp is reached.

I really like the sound of them. Im going to use a temp monitor like an stc 1000 as ive never trusted those dial thermostats for not getting stuck. Which is what the hydor use. And im not the only person. Its common knowledge dial thermostats are somewhat unreliable. And anything that runs of a dial thermostat can get stuck. Its an unfortunate side effect.
Hence why I shall be using a monitor. It's digital so it lessens the worry of over heating.
What filter are you running your hydor from pal?

Was running it on a jbl cristalprofi but now it's on a aquamanta 600 as I needed more flow for my co2 distribution

Cool. I only asked because I'm running a fluval 406 and heard they are a pain to make compatible with the hydros due to the hose size.

Yes just looked at the fluval pipes could be difficult ,have you considered changing the pipes for normal pipes may make the job a bit easier little bit more expense but cheap enough to buy off tee bay

Yeah I've been looking into it.
Apparently thje fluval pipes are somewhat 'dodgy' anyway with them being ribbed.
The pipes are too wide for the hydor connections. I could buy some smaller diameter piping but wouldnt that increase the pressure?
