Yellow leaves

Hello!

Please see my attached photos and see if you can tell me why my leaves are yellow!!!!

Photo ones from front of tank. Photo two from top of tank.

Some points that may be useful to know:

I have been using Esha prophyll twice a week for a month as it says it remedies yellow leaves.
I have a 15 watt light in my tank. My tank is 54 litres.
I have yellow walls and no tank background (this is highly irrelevant I'm sure but thought I'd mention it anyway, even if it just makes you smile!!!!!  ;D)

On reading about the problem on the internet it says yellow leaves are caused by magnesium deficiency but surely this is in the plant food I've been using?? There are no indications on the product or it's packaging.

Theories and suggestions welcome!!!!

Yellow leaves basically just mean your plants are growing poorly, not producing enough chlorophyll, and there could be a number of reasons.
How many hours of light do you give them? If less than 10, you could try increasing it.
I'd try root tabs for fertiliser, rather than liquid.
If you have hard water, you will have enough of the trace elements including Magnesium and Calcium, if it is soft you may not.
There don't seem to be many fish in your photos, if it is lightly stocked relative to the number of plants, there may not be enough CO2.
You could try pulling one of the plants, if it uproots easily and doesn't have lots of long white roots, then there could be something fundamentally wrong with the substrate.

Thank Richard,

I have my lights on for 8 - 10 hours. Can you recommend a good fertiliser tab?  The plants do all have lovely long white roots and i hope to be getting some more fish soon. I thought I was quite close to my stocking limit already!

I'm using Easylife Profito to feed the plants in my 40L and 26L.

I also use a liquid carbon daily.
