Title: Vallis Runners
Post by: Mervyn on December 16, 2012, 12:23:54 PM
Hi,
I have vallisneria growing in my tank and they have started some runners.

Now, when I get new plants growing from the runners do I cut the runner, or will it just break off on its own?

Just pinch off the runners and plant the new vallis where you want them to grow.....

You will find that they pop up all over the place and usually where you don't want them!!  ;D

The bunches of vallis I bought when I set my tank up in November 2010 are still spreading.  I have to prune them regularly (and they have to be uprooted fairly often when I clean the gravel during a water change).  I now have vallis that doesn't grow as tall as it once did but it still spreads 'outwards'.

One of the guys in my lfs advised that if I wanted it to grow taller once again then CO2 is most likely needed.  So for the moment I will make do with 'short' vallis  ;)

When I noticed this happening I bought some giant vallis - so I have some tall plant again now which makes the tank look better
