Hi Folks,

If anyone is interested in adding CO₂ (carbon dioxide) to their tank for the benefit of their plants, I may be able to help. I have been using CO₂ in my tanks for several years so have learned a few things on the way. Injecting carbon dioxide gas into the aquarium water is a way of providing carbon, which the plants need to grow. It is arguably the most important nutrient that plants need.

Many people now use LED lighting in their tanks. This will typically provide more light than, say, fluorescent lighting. More light translates to the need for more plant nutrients and this includes carbon. Some people choose liquid carbon products such as Seachem Flourish Excel. But, there are now a good few CO₂ products available to the fishkeeper. Of these, I have only used one of them - the Tropica Plant Growth System 60.
