Title: Question about fertilizer
Post by: Mervyn on December 31, 2012, 02:52:03 PM
Hi All,
My son ordered fertilizer online and when it arrived he did not realize that he ordered pond plant fertilizer....Soll Floral Boost I think he said. (it was listed in the aquarium section)
Now if he reduced the dosage...it recommends 100ml to 1000 Litres, down to 10ml per 100 Litres would that be ok? Or should he not use it at all?

Thanks

Mervyn, does the packet have any of the mineral contents listed on it? I only found your posts when I tried to google it? It is difficult to know whether the same concentration of pond fertiliser would be suitable for aquarium plants without more information on the particular fertiliser. Although plants are generally less fussy about temperature than fish, a pond fertiliser would be aimed at promoting growth in cold-water plants, rather than the tropical plants in your tank.

Hi Helen,
Thanks again. My son is currently away but will ask him tomorrow when he gets back and will let you know what is listed.

Thanks

Hi Helen,

My son has shown me the box and the fertilizer bottle. There is no list of ingredients. It states that their are no phosphates and completely safe for fish, humans and other creatures, it also states that it does not affect filters, and that you cannot overdose with it. ???

That is basically, apart from dosing info, that is on the leaflet.

It is possible the website will have more info. Some of them tend to give info that isn't on the pack.
