Plant identification

Wondering if anyone can help me identify this plant in my aquarium! I planted 2 of these and some java fern on Sunday. The java fern is already sprouting but I'm intrigued to know what the other plants are. One of them is looking a little bit sad already so knowing what it is might be able to point me in the right direction as to whether I can make any changes to help it?! Thank you  :)

i may be wrong as iam very new to this and iam sure someone here might be able to tell you much better than i can but they look the same as what i planted in my tank the weekend to in which case it could be Vallisnerias or
Vallisneria but as i said iam new to it all myself.

Thanks for your reply :) That's the only one that I can find, after trawling the net, which looks similar! One of the plants looks like its been really chomped on overnight!

Yep, definately Vallis. But getting them to grow sideways is brilliant!

They can sometimes have a strop after planting and they'll throw their leaves out of the pram. Leave them alone and let them get a good root system and they'll push up new plants. They're substrate feeders, so a root tab shoved into the substrate next to them is a good idea.

Cool, thank you! What do I do with the leaves which are looking a bit brown? Do I just leave them or remove? Never had live plants before so it's all new to me! Although I am a little bit excited about my java fern sprouts!  ;D

I'd leave them. They'll fall off when they're ready and there's less chance of disturbing the roots.
