I bought 9 of these rainbowfish.  I can't remember what the shop said they were. They don't appear to be one type.

The fins say spotted but colour is wrong. One has started flashing a  female even though they are young and tiny. Less than a inch

They might be pseudomugil furcatus or pseudomugil gertrudae, but I'd imagine @Sue would know best.

Ty for replying.  The fin shape says one thing.  They have no spots but are young. And the fins are yellow. Oh and the fins near their gills have tiny white tips. I wonder if they are hybrid

There are several Pseudomugil species and I wouldn't trust a shop to label them as the correct species - they can only go by what the wholesaler says they are.

They look most like images of P. gertrudae. females don't have such obvious spots as males, and they'll be juveniles so won't have developed their full adult colouring yet.

The main difference between the species commonly sold is their hardness requirements. P gertrudae and P. signifer need softish to hard; P. furcatus needs hard to very hard water.

This site lists a lot more rainbowfish species than any other, can I suggest looking though all the Pseudomugils to see if any of them look like your fish.

I suspect these are hybrids as they show features of both furcatus and gertrudae, as you already thought. Hybrid rainbows are becoming more common, and all(?) Pseudomugil spp can hybridise quite easily.
