Here's a pic of my fish, a Catfish, can anyone tell me what it is.

I'm not at all familiar with, and have never ID'd, such fish before. However, I'm going to use this as a learning opportunity and take a semi-guess that it's either a common plec or a leopard plec - there are photos of each that look similar - but it could well be another type. NB. I'm only suggesting these as possibilities but other forum members are much, much more experienced in these fish than I am and will hopefully give the correct verdict/identification and explain their rationale. :D

Cool thanks, that's closer than I was, I've had this one a few months, so Im getting a bigger tank and learning more about my fish,

There are a lot of plecs, it can be tricky working out just which one.
I have a horrible feeling it's a sailfin plec, Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps. This is one of the tank buster species.
The best way to ID it is to look on https://www.planetcatfish.com They have photos of hundreds of catfish, plecs are in the L numbers section.

I'd agree with Sue.
Perhaps @fishtales could shed some light on this one, as I think a sailfin plec was mentioned in the previous posts.
-
It is P. gibbiceps.

Thank you for the definite ID, @Hampalong . Am I correct in thinking this is one of the biggest plecs in the tropical fish trade growing to around 45 cm (18 inches) long?

Let's not forget to mention that as well as being a big fish, it's also a stunningly beautiful one.
Look at those markings 8)
(I'm biased and would absolutely have one if I had a tank big enough).

You are allowed to be biased towards your own fish. ;D
