Hi all :) purely out of curiosity, on the home page of this site up the top there is a banner and sometimes it shows a picture of a small purple fish with spots and red striped fins. It looks kind of like a tetra from it's body shape but I've never seen anything like it. Does anybody know what it is?

I think there is a male Celestial Pearl Danio in the pictures - does it look like this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danio_margaritatus)?
-
It's here (http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/fish/galaxy-rasbora.html) too. It's in the fish profiles as both galaxy rasbora, the name it was given when it was first discovered in 2006, and celestial pearl danio, the name it was given once the taxonomists had been at work. You'll find it in the rasbora section of the fish profiles.

Awesome, thanks Sue :) They look like such cool fish!

Like these?
They are very shy, unless it's feeding time!
-
Yup, just like those :) Gosh I'd actually really like to find some. Would they go okay with cherry shrimp?
-
They should do. I have cherry shrimp with the very similar sized Sundadanio axelrodi (http://www.thinkfish.co.uk/fish/axelrods-rasbora.html) and pygmy cories and my shrimp are breeding like guppies ;D

CPD's (as I like to call them - I think I'll trademark it...) are pretty small so you shouldn't have any problems with Cherry Shrimp. I have a group of them in with 2 Amano Shrimp and the largest Amano completely dwarfs the CPD's (although Amano's do get a bit bigger than Cherries in fairness).

Okay cool :) Lol I haven't even put fish into my first tank yet and I'm already planning my second :o
