Title: Fish in our lake
Post by: poweroftaxi on June 30, 2022, 10:43:27 AM
Hi,
We have just seen this fish in our lake, looks from the size of it that its been there a while. Does anyone know what it is?
Thanks in advance

If it's in a lake, presumably it's a cold water fish, possibly a native of where you live. I don't know much about cold water fish, and the little I do know is about goldfish.

Hopefully someone who knows more about cold water fish will be able to help. If you could tell us the region where the lake is, that would also help.

Looks like an Orfe (Leuciscus idus).

I am in Gloucestershire - there used to be golden orfe in the lake so maybe this a cousin?!

A Blue Orfe. Same species as Golden.
