Title: Are they Blood Fin Tetra?
Post by: radhx on September 21, 2014, 06:45:49 PM
Hi,

Got these 7 beauties yesterday.

They look like silver Blood Fin Tetra, but are golden in colour. They have red colour on their fins, tail as well as a splash of pink on head. Eyes are orange. Very active in the tank.

The guy at the shop was referring to them as Flame Tetra.

Please help me identify them.

Thanks and Regards.
Rad.

They are a very pretty fish!

They don't look quite right for flame tetras, aka von rio tetras. And they don't look quite right for bloodfins either
I've seen albino cherry barbs recently and although the colour is right the body shape of your fish isn't quite right.

They could well be an albino form of a fish we see quite often in shops. There are more and more of these colour morphs appearing.

Did you ask the shop what the wholesaler's invoice gave for their latin name? That's sometimes a help, though the wholesaler often uses just the common name.

This shop is very ordinary down to earth one with an ignorant guy running it, there wont be any invoices and all that stuff, no point in asking him about Latin names.  ::)

But he gets a new healthy fish stock every Thursday, so I keep on visiting him. :D

Here is somewhat better snap of these new fish.
