Iv got 5 rummey nose tetra and everytime i do anything about changing the water they lose the colour from the nose. they have also recently since i put a tank pic behind the tank sometimes run along back of tank. i just wondered if the colour loss was strress related with changing water? if they are seeing reflection at the back of tank making them swim against it?
Any info would be great
Thanks again

Rummy noses do lose their red noses when stressed. Water changes can be stressful for fish (though not doing them is more stressful in the long term) so as long as their noses do get red again, I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe be as 'gentle' as you can when doing a water change so they don't get quite as stressed?
I've recently read that most fish in the wild stay close to the river bank and they can feel stressed without a background as it makes them feel exposed. You say you've only just added the background - perhaps they've now found their river bank and are just doing what comes naturally.

Hi Sue,
Thanks again for the info they do go red again and as you stated if i didnt change the water then it would be a lot worse for the fish. Iv also added a pipe orniment to the tank today to give them a propper place to hide. i have got the bog wood and 2 large and 3 smaller plants bu tthis is a better place if they want to be on there own hopefullt they get some stress relief from new toy.
i do hope what you say about the backround is rite too
Thanks again
