Red Line Torpedo With Curved Spine

Hi all,

We purchased 6 Red Line Torpedos yesterday from Maidenhead Aquatics to complete our tank. However I’ve noticed that one of them has a pronounced curvature of his spine (tail section sort of kinked rather than entire body). I am concerned whether this could be TB & infect our entire tank. That said we only bought them yesterday from a well established aquatic centre so I guess it could be genetic? I’m in quandary what to do (i.e. euthanise, medicate tank or just monitor).

The most likely cause would be genetic. If it was an infection, more than one fish would have it as they were together in the shop tank and probably in the wholesaler's tanks as well.

I hope you tank is at least 120 cm long as these are large, fast swimminng barbs.

That was my thought too & feel slightly reassured by your response so will just monitor for now. Yes the tank is exactly 120cm & have also ramped up the flow rate.
