Title: lethargic female krib.
Post by: Alex_N on December 03, 2015, 02:48:17 PM
One of my female kribs has been bullied out of her position, of golden girl, by the male and other female krib. After what I'm assuming is munching on her young, she did have a couple of fry around but not seen them for a few days.
She's been put in isolation to stop the bullying and try and get her energy levels back up. She also doesn't seem to be feeding very well. Is there anything more I can do or give her to help perk her up?
She doesn't have any obvious signs of injury other than her slightly nipped tail fin.

It sounds as though the male and the other female have decided to pair up. The best thing to do would be to keep the 'spare' female on her own and hope she recovers, then see if someone will take her. If you don't mind giving her away, I usually find that advertising fish for free on aquarist classifieds usually works.

Yeah that's exactly what they have done.
I'd rather not give her away, I'm planning on getting some more hideaways and hoping that will help. But if the bullying doesn't stop I will have no choice but to give her away.

I've just placed the new cave and had a shift around of the tank.
The lethargic krib has been released as well. After a couple of minutes fighting, no injuries to either, everything has settled down. Fingers crossed there won't be any other serious incidents.
