Hiya everyone my big severum has white spot, I've been treating with waterlife protozin today was the third day the bottle says treat on day 1,2,3 and 6. If white spot is still present after day 6 how long do I have to leave it before starting the treatment again? Or would it be better to use a different white spot treatment if the protozin didnt work? I've also turned the temperature up
id be grateful for any advise
thanks

See if the spots are still there on day 6, and if they are I would wait till day 9, do a big water change then start again. If they drop off before day 6, make sure you add the day 6 dose.

Just to make sure, does it look as though it's been sprinkled with salt?
The whitespot parasite has three stages to its life cycle. The first stage is the spots on the fish where it eats the fish's tissues encapsulated in a covering - and the medication can't get at it in this stage. The second stage is where the spot falls off the fish, still encapsulated, and divides to make lots more parasites. Meds can't get at in this stage either. The final stage is where the capsule opens and the 'baby' parasites swim off looking for a fish to infect - and the med can now kill it. There can be some of all three stages in the tank at once and the reason for the dosing even after the spots have gone is to get the very last one when it gets to stage three.

If you prefer to change medication if it doesn't clear up, run some new carbon in the filter for 24 hours before changing. I've always found King British Original Formula WS3 works for me.

Yeah it definitely seems to be white spot I lost a big group of clown loaches to white spot a few months back :( this time *touch wood* there only seems to be my severum effected. THe first pic is day one of treatment and the second less clear pic is from today. I'll do the the 6th day treatment, leave 3 days then do a big water change and start again if he's still got spots and hopefully it clears up :)
