Can anyone recomend a good Freeze dried Daphnia food, i fancy giving my Platy a treat now and then, (peas go down a treat once a week) and have read that Daphnia are good for digestion. I read one review of Interpet product and no one seemed very impressed.

Whilst I generally avoid P@H for fish, they do sell 5 packs of frozen fish food for a tenner, with each pack containing 30 cubes & their range includes Daphnia.

took a swig only to find out it was fish food mix

I tried the freeze dried stuff with my Gourami's and Cardinal and Bentosi tetra's, they didn't seem impressed at all and the stuff just floated around at the top of the water before I scooped it out with a net again.  :-\

The best way to feed freeze dried food is to soak it in a bit of tank water till it's rehydrated thoroughly. Some fish have problems with unsoaked freeze dried as they eat it straight away then it rehydrates inside them and swells up.

I bought a load of freeze dried food cheaply from EBay, the blocks which you are supposed to stick to  the side of the tank. However, as Sue suggests, I soak mine in an egg cup of water. When everything is well soaked and the blocks break up, I pour the resulting "soup" into the tank and the fish go crazy for it.

Oh thanks for the soaking tip, I shall give that a go and see if that makes a difference.

:isay: i squash the blocks between my fingers

soft and sticky it can then be stuck to the
front glass of the tank i normally do either
blood worm daph or brine shrimp they all go mad

I use frozen bloodworm which i put in a bit of tank water to defrost. I feed it to stanley and the corydoras using a syringe, then i can be sure they have had some, as i can literally plop it straight in front of them. Stanley gets so excited at the sight of the syringe that he will jump out of the water to get to it!!!!
