Hi all,
My Rummy Nose Tetras don't seem to be getting much food as the others wolf it up before they get the chance! Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks

Welcome, Snoopy

What other fish do you have in the tank? What food are you feeding currently? This might help us provide some suggestions.

Thanks for your reply. 😀 I have 4 five banded barbs and 4 neon tetras. I use flake food and sinking pellets. The barbs are very quick at eating everything!!

Hi Snoopy!

I have a shoal of Tiger Barbs which are voracious eaters and so it sometimes might seem the other fish aren't getting enough to eat.

I use various techniques to ensure everyone is well fed.

Sometimes I add sinking pellets, a few at a time and the Tiger Barbs become infatuated with them, then I add flake to the surface for the other fish to concentrate on.

I use JBL Novo Tabs which stick on the glass, I put two in, one at either end of the tank, and whilst the Tigers are nibbling them small pieces drift into the water column and the other fish eat this.

I add live food once a week, a couple of bags of Daphnia puts enough food in that even the Tiger Barbs can't eat it all before the others get a look-in.

I hope that gives you some ideas to try.

A Selection of Fish in my Fish Community Creator Tanks
Tiger Barb (1) - Cardinal Tetra (17) - Otocinclus (1) - Agassiz's Dwarf Cichlid (2) - Ornamental Snails (50) - Assassin Snail (2) -
Note: The user may not necessarily own these fish, these are tanks that they may be building or researching for stocking purposes

Great suggestions from ExtremeOne/Simon. The only other suggestion I can add to that would be that putting some food in the outflow from the filter should cause it to disperse and hopefully give everyone a chance to get something.

Hi Snoopy and welcome to the forum.
I have to admit that my tiger barbs can eat for Britain. Luckily they are the only thing in the tanks at the moment.

Our golden barbs are voracious feeders, I put food in at both ends of the tank to make sure the puffers and the bumble get some.
