Hi all,
I bought a Golden Nugget Plec a couple of weeks ago barely seen him. Whilst I expected this behaviour as I learnt they tend to be nocturnal, I am concerned that he is missing out on food whilst he is stuck in his cave during feeding time.
I have the aquarium lighting on the lowest level which comes on at 1700 and goes off 2200.
Does anyone have any experience or ideas to ensure my plec is able to receive a healthy amount of food?
Thanks

You could put some specific food in for him when you turn the lights off.
What are you feeding him? Have you tried veggies such as courgette and cucumber? You can leave those in overnight to give your plec time to munch on them when the other fish are sleeping.
Perhaps feed the rest of the fish away from the cave, then drop a wafer by his cave whilst the others are busy.
I have a couple of BNs, and they are often out in the open, and don't have a problem at feeding time. They enjoy algae wafers, fresh veggies, and the Repashy "Bottom Scratcher" food http://www.repashy.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=12
Best of luck and please keep us updated.

Unfortunately named...

Both the Bottom Scratcher and the Morning Wood.
The Repashy foods do have funny names, but those two are the best. ;D
