What is the best dried food to gave to discus? To gave them good growth
-
I'm not at all familiar with discus. However, having had a quick google, it looks as though many of the leading brands do specially formulated discus food eg Hikari, New Life Spectrum, Tetra, Seachem, Dennerle, Vitalis (not a brand I'm familiar with), Aqua One, JBL, NT Labs, King British, etc. Therefore, any of these would probably be very good as they'll be specifically formulated for discus, and it may just be a matter of trying and testing various and buying small packets of each in the first instance before deciding on one you find to be particularly good ie it will come down to personal preference of the fish and the fishkeeper as there won't be a definitive answer to this question. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the info on your reply

....Vitalis (not a brand I'm familiar with)...
Vitalis is the new name for New Era.

Vitalis is the new name for New Era.
Ah - thanks for that; I learn something new every day on here.

I wouldn't have known if I hadn't gone to buy some.
I'd read about New Era food being recommended so I thought I'd give it a try. I went to the nearest MA and they had a display of food with New Era and Vitalis mixed together. The tubs were identical apart from the name. When I asked, they said it had changed its name.

Not sure what Discus need but my criteria when looking for fish food is simply to buy the one with most protein and fibre in it. No particular reason other than these are good for humans.
