What tropical fish for a 30l biorb tank?


A 30 litre tank of any shape is considered to be a nano tank, and is suitable for few fish. Biorbs also have the disadvantage that the rocks on the bottom are part of the filter system; they are large and sharp but cannot be exchanged for small smooth gravel or sand as these would not work with the filter system. This means that small bottom dwelling fish are not suitable for Biorbs of any shape.

There are a few fish which are suitable for a 30 litre Biorb, or any 30 litre tank, depending on the hardness of the water.

For soft water, a single Siamese Fighting Fish Betta splendens  either male or female; or a shoal of Ember Tetra
Hyphessobrycon amanda  ; or a shoal of one of the species of Boraras, such as chili rasboras (Boraras brigittae)

For hard water, a group of male endlers, but not females as they are a lot larger than males and will give birth to fry every month.

A group of shrimps would also be suitable for a 30 litre tank.
