Nannacara Anomala Breeding

Just wondering if anyone here has experience breeding nannacara anomala?

I've never seen fry in my densely planted tank but I'm sure the pair have bred at least half a dozen times now. I suspect my water changes are causing the female to abandon the fry, just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences?

They are in the community tank which might also be the issue of course, but I'd have expected some level of success by now really...

I’ve finally seen eggs... not really expecting it to lead to much as usual. It’s not a large batch of probably only 40 or 50 eggs which is low for this species. The female is guarding them very attentively and appears to be fanning them (though this may be more a proximity thing and hence just coincidental) and the male is outa here except when the female fancies having a go, he is permanently staying out of the way hiding.  I can see a few 5 or 10 eggs are likely fungussed as they are clearly opaque and white (or maybe not fertiliser?) either way they are clearly different to the rest. I have read anything from 3 to 10 days to hatch and likely 3 days before they are mobile. Others have had success in community tanks and I don’t fancy a dedicated breeding project right now so they aren’t being removed especially or anything. If I see any hatching I may change my mind of course... at least this time I can actually monitor proceedings and take a decision if I want to... I also have a spare tank now of course which could be used... hmmm...

JPC yes aware of the methylene blue technique re the eggs. It’s a good thought and I have some in I’m pretty sure... rare for me to have appropriate meds in actually!! I’ll do a bit of research if things are still looking good tomorrow.

I don’t particularly want to breed them that’s not necessarily the aim here, but I will equally try to support a good outcome for any fry if any emerge...

Wasn’t aware of that, thanks! Then just put them in a heated tank with an air power sponge filter?

Yes, you got it. Obviously, the sponge filter would benefit from having been populated with nitrifying bacteria. When I used this method with GBRs, some of the eggs were still attached to grains of substrate material. Not a problem. I left them like that and the fry break free from them. Ensure that there is good flow from the sponge filter to keep the water well-oxygenated.
