German Blue Ram, with Rosy Tetras?

Hi I am thinking of moving my German Blue Ram from our 130lt tank into our 180lt tank, as since the female died he has become very bossy, and is bullying by cory cats which have all gone into hiding!
In the 180 tank there are young Angles that we bread, and a few young plattys, it is planted and has lots of hiding places.
Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts?

GBRs tend to be more "bark than bite" ie. they will bully fish and stress them out but rarely cause any physical damage.  It sounds to me like you GBR has claimed the entire bottom of the tank as his territory in preparation for meeting another female and the cory's are therefore now his only challenger and therefore the focus of his attention.

Moving him will accompany 2 things, 'resetting' his territorial behaviour; and it will also put him in a tank with less 'challengers' to his territory, therefore his is likely to have less to cause his aggression.

It is likely that if there are any very young fry in the tank, that they would be eaten, though this depends on the size of your young angels and whether you wanted you platy numbers to grow or not.

If you want to try and encourage the GBR to claim only a part of the tank, try to section off different parts of the tank in some way (eg. with stones, wood plants etc.)

I agree with Matt.

The problem with cories is that they have no concept of territory and will never learn to stay out of the ram's territory, so he will constantly be chasing them away. And if the ram has claimed the whole tank floor, there is nowhere for the cories to go.

Thanks lovely people, the move is done, the Ram is now in the 180lt community tank, and the pair of honey dwarf Gouramis are now in the 130lt tank with the cory cats.  :D
