Title: Do cherry barbs nip fins
Post by: glitch74 on October 24, 2018, 08:41:02 PM
I have a 55g community tank, I  want to add some colour, I've been looking at some long finned cherry barbs, but are they fin nippers?

A few years ago I had some cherry barbs, both normal and albino (half a dozen of each to make a shoal of 12). They did not nip fins.

They are lovely fish, and one of the two species of barbs which are considered peaceful and good in a community with other species of fish, unlike other barbs. They also cover all areas of the tank, including rummaging for food which falls on the substrate, so an added bonus!  :fishy1:

I have a shoal of them. Never had any problems with them at all. They are really peaceful.

Great news.
I hope you'll post some pics after your new arrivals have settled.  :)
