Hello everybody.
Going to try again, how do you feed Betta,s when going on holiday. What do you do if there is no one to care for them whilst away ?

Bas :)

Aah...take him with you, meanie ;D

Sorry...not helpful was it? I'm sure he will be fine, general consensus seems to be that fishies are best left without holiday blocks or well-meaning, over feeding friends :)
I guess it depends how long you're going for, obviously, if it's a 6 week safari you might need to sort something out....but Sue will tell you for sure.

Happy Hols!

"Back on the bike eh!"

Holiday feeding is something that crops up fairly often. Personally, I have left my lot for about a week without food without any alarms. Just feed them normally beforehand, don't be tempted to give them a little extra before you go away.

Here are some links from previous discussions on this point.

How long without food

There is also an article in the Articles section [No! Never!] called Holiday Care

Yes, it depends on how long you'll be away for.
When first bought, some bettas refuse to eat any food except the one the shop fed him. The solution is to feed nothing but the food you have bought, removing it after an hour or two, till he eventually eats it. It takes some bettas anything up to 2 weeks to start eating your food. If they can can starve themselves that long, it is fine to leave them 2 weeks without food. Though I wouldn't leave one any longer than that.

That's what comes of reading everything, anywhere on fish  ;D Coupled with a mind that retains data, the more trivial the data is, the better it is retained. Though if I have to turn the oven on to cook something I forget. I have to set a timer to remind me  :-[

And have I mentioned all the documents on my laptop where I copy anything interesting.........
