My 240L Fluval Roma Has Been Delivered...

Yay!!!

At last, the decorating has been completed and the entire lounge has been changed.

My new tank was delivered yesterday; today I carried out my test for water-tightness.

It's taking forever to drain down, so I'll have to get a pond pump for the future water changes.

Tomorrow I shall be painting the rear glass, and then it will be all systems go for the dry start planting etc

Well,
Aquatic compost base layer, small black gravel (been given a couple of buckets of this, looks to be approx 1-3 mm), some sandy 'beach', lava rock, heavily planted, two Fluval 306 filters with spray bars (half the rear wall each), possible CO2, dry start for the carpet plants. Going to make some moss trees too.

Fauna: will be moving stock from my Love Fish 40L and adding to it-

Pygmy Cory (Corydoras pygmaeus)
Clown Killifish (Epiplatys annulatus)

Not sure what I'll be selecting from the above list though. I'll be turning my 40L in to a planted Shrimp tank, so probably won't have fish in it.

As money is extra tight due to not being able to work, I'll have to add bits and pieces slowly.

I am, of course, over the moon. My partner Sue is not so keen, and has told friends that she has become a fish tank widow!

Helen, the Fluval Roma 240L has two holes and fittings for the supplied Fluval 306. I bought an additional 306, so am using the two holes as inlets for each filter and then have run outlets via spray bars.

That's quite neat. You must have a lot of flow with two of those filters. I got my 240l fluval Roma just over 5 years ago and the drilled base was quite a new thing. There was quite a lot of discussion about whether it was a good idea and I know of some people going to great lengths to source a previous version without the drilled base.

Although the flow seems quite strong, I don't think it quite reaches the far end of the tank, so I have an extra pump at the other end to try and improve the flow all over the tank. I do have a huge, solid bit of bogwood that blocks the flow. I have often thought about configuring it with two inlets at one end and outlets at the other, but am not sure I want to double the flow. Most of my fish are the type that prefer slow moving water.
