Fluval Roma Lid without lights

I have a Fluval Roma 125 aquarium. About a year ago I started using my own submersible LED strips instead of the tube lighting unit in the lid and they are working fine. However it still has the original light system in the lid which is no longer used, and it is getting very dirty with algae and still has the original wire attached which gets in the way.

I cannot seem to find any Fluval Roma lids anywhere on the internet that don’t include some sort of lighting system (which I don’t require). Does anyone has any suggestions on how I can replace this lid, or if it is possible to remove the lighting system.

Thanks!

I don't think Fluval make light-free lids.

What kind of light is the original one, LED or fluorescent?
If it is fluorescent of the kind which has a magnetic ballast you should be able to get into the ballast to change the starter. You can remove everything from this compartment. However, if it is an electronic ballast it will probably be sealed. If you don't know, here's the way to tell the difference https://www.eledlights.com/blog/post/quick-way-to-tell-which-ballast-you-have/
If it's an LED light, i don't know how to remove that  ???

It's a fluorescent light.

OK, so that depends on what kind of fluorescent light.

Are there any screws in the lid which allow access to the light ballast? Can you take a photo of both outside and inside of the lid so we can see what it looks like?
My old 54 litre Eheim tank, and the very old 60 litre Marina tank it replaced both had accessible ballasts, but my old Juwel tank did not - you had to cut it open to change the ballast if that failed. The Marina had screws, the Eheim cover just popped out with a screwdriver.

I have just taken a look this morning when doing the water change. The actual box which houses the electronics (the part with the yellow label over it) is completely moulded to the lid, no screws at all so it looks like it doesn't come off unfortunately. I can take the electronics out of the box, but can't remove the box itself, it seems to be part of the lid. Such a shame Fluval don't manufacture lids without lights.

If you don't want to use this light, I would just remove as much as possible without damaging the lid. Cut the wire as close as possible to the lid.

Most manufacturers include a lid with lights. It's almost impossible to find any without. The only way to get a lightless lid is to get a custom built tank and request a lightless lid.

The newer version of the Fluval Roma tanks come with LED lights, and have flat lids.

You could either go to your local MA and see if they would order just a lid for you, or try online.

I have some of the older versions of the Roma 200, and have changed to LED light. Eventually I'll get around to replacing the lids too.

Does the centre cover in the link come without the lights?

The fluorescent version looks a bit like my old Juwel Rio - a bar holding 2 fluorescent tubes sitting across the middle with a flap to the front and back which can be lifted up. The images in your link suggest that the newer LED Fluval Romas have a plain strip across the middle and the LED light bar sits under it and not physically attached.
If this is what the LED lights look like, that would solve Vanadia's problem  :)

Yes, the centre panel in the newer Roma tanks is just flat plastic.
The LED lights sit on the rim inside the tank (below the lid), rather than attach to the lid.
As far as I can tell, the lid in the link is just the centre panel, without lights. I'm hoping it's the answer to the issue as I plan to buy some myself to replace the lids on my old tanks.  :)

Thanks!

I have managed to remove all of the electronics from the lid, but I may look at getting that new lid in future as there is still the bulky plastic bit in the middle.
