Hi, Ive been looking at these pleco all day,
They are a friends. They are the only two pleco he has. Has had them 1 year.
One is albino (4-5 inches) one is not (5-6 inches) Neither have really grown in the year, He put a submarine deco in the tank and all a sudden he has babies!!!
We have looked at bristlenose pleco (Neither has bristles)
we looked at common pleco (They seem to small the breed for common)
They bred easily without any set conditions all he did was add an ornament, They have had 2 batches now.
Leopard sailfin pleco.. again seem to small to be breeding and aparently none of the requirements they need have been met (For instance they are in a 180 Litre 3 ft tank, with gravel). They bred at 25 degrees and 28 degrees.

Ive tried going by the babies fin shapes to find the species and i get stuck, Im confused to how one baby looks like a golden nugget!!!
All I can say is the pleco
breed at 4-6 inches
breed very easily
comes in albino and spotty
Top fin is jagged abit
the albino has a spotty pattern slightly
Oh an ph is about 7-7.2
Any help please guys?

I know there are albino bristlenoses, so maybe the first pic is that.
Pics 2, 3 and 4 - grey with black spots - could be any of a number of plecs, unfortunately.
The albino baby looks like a miniature of pic 1 but the dark coloured babies look exactly like 'standard' bristlenoses.
It can very difficult IDing plecs just because there are so many of them, and so many look almost the same. Have you tried planetcatfish yet?
Edit to add - I've just been to planet catfish and found that on their forum the first section is help with IDing plecs. I don't usually suggest people go to other forums but you or your friend would probably be better registering at planetcatfish and posting your pics there. Those people are the plec experts.

Like you some say BN for albino. others are arguin the body shape.
Ive now got the two "adults" and 2 of their fry at min.
my friend only had these two plecs. Neither have bristles.
The albino body shape doesnt match my female BN body shape.
The albino parent is also 2 and half inches
the brown adult is 3 and half inches.
The albino fry is 3cm and the brown fry is 2cm.. Yet same batch?! lol different growth rate.

I'm not terribly good with plecs because there are so many of them. That's why I suggested planetcatfish, I thought you'd get more help over there :)

I see you have also posted on another forum I use (and possibly others I don't use) as well as planetcatfish ;D
They are saying the first thing that occurred to me but didn't say as I know next to nothing about plecs. The spotted plec in the pics is a different species from the albino. And I did say the babies look like bristlenoses.
If a standard BN and an albino BN breed, the babies will be standard BNs. If the standard parent carries the albino gene, then that adult mated with an albino will produce some albino babies as well.
