Post by: fcmf on January 05, 2016, 07:36:53 PM
Is this a type of cichlid?

It has the feel or apistogrammas, though which one? It'll take a while of trawling through images on Seriously Fish and Fishbase to ID them.

5 mins later -
Looking at SF they could be agassizii. Young ones. The fins look like females (short and rounded edges) but they aren't yellow. But they do have sparkly blue on their head. I have the fire red variant which are orange, both male and female which is why I didn't recognise them immediately but the body shape is right for agassizii. Most apistos have deeper bodies. And my agassizis, both male and females, have that blue sparkliness.

Thanks, Sue. Yes, that definitely seems to "fit". Another species to add to my "list for the future"...

Indeed, they look like immature male Agazzis to me too.
