The Checkered Barb is a small peaceful barb, which shows its best colours once it has been well settled in an aquarium. Its appearance whilst in a shops sales tank can be a little drab but given a good aquarium environment, any specimens will turn out as good as the best individuals on sale.

The Rosy Barb is one of the hardiest barbs available and well suited to the aquarium environment. Its adaptability can be seen in its wild distribution, which includes many areas outside of its native habitat. In the aquarium it is a peaceful, lively and active fish with few demands. Ideally the aquarium should have open swimming spaces and hiding spots amongst vegetation.

No New Posts Ruby Barb

The ruby barb is a beautifully coloured fish and well suited to the aquarium. Although the fish is hardy and adaptable it will only show its best colours and confidence in the right conditions. Ideally the aquarium should contain soft water with plenty of planted areas, shaded areas and hiding spots. -

The striped barb is an attractive aquarium fish but it has a very timid nature that must be taken into account. The aquarium should be situated in a position where the fish will not receive sudden visual changes or vibrations (noise, movement - e.g. people suddenly appearing, doors opening etc.)

The Tiger Barb is a popular aquarium fish although it is only suited to specific communities of fish. The biggest problem with Tiger Barbs is their well-known tendency to fin-nip, a reputation that has undeservedly passed on to barbs in general.

No New Posts Tinfoil Barb

Tinfoil Barbs are a highly attractive and some would even say 'cute' fish when young, but these fish will grow rapidly and soon reach up to 35cm. They therefore require an aquarium at least 150cm long, making them an unsuitable purchase for most fishkeepers.
